Franklin Square, New York

Recently, a new book chronicling the history of Franklin Square through pictures has gone on sale.  The book is titled Images of America: Franklin Square.   The book is published by Arcadia Publishing and was authored by Paul van Wie, PhD, Kiera Grassi and Hannah Mutum.   You can download an order form from the Franklin Square Historical Society’s web-site at: http://www.franklinsquarehistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Franklin_Square_Historical_Society_Flyer.pdf

Two passages from the book describing Franklin Square are below:
“Though Franklin Square has a population of nearly 30,000, it has maintained the ambiance of a small village.”
“Small specialty shops predominate in the old-fashioned downtown area.”
I purchased this book and was captivated by the images of Franklin Square, New York.   The book is jam packed with images, and each image tells a story.  I highly recommend this book to any resident of Franklin Square (past or present), history buff or nostalgia fan.
